1 Day integrated City & Guilds NPTC Training and assessment for the safe operation of Pedestrian Mowers. The course would appeal if you use pedestrian controlled mowers as part of your work. You may work as a groundsman, greenkeeper or in amenity horticulture.
COURSE CONTENT
Operate Mower:
- Carry out a basic risk assessment
- Health and Safety Legislation that underpins machine operation
- Appropriate PPE required for mower operations
- Key feature of the equipment being used
- Controls and instruments relating to the equipment being used
- Check and maintain the equipment being used
- Adjust the cutting units
- Safely operate a mower
Use and Maintain Pedestrian controlled powered equipment:
- Set Up, Use and Maintain Pedestrian Controlled Powered Equipment
- Work Safely and Minimise Environmental Damage
- Use and Maintain Pedestrian Controlled Powered Equipment
- Operating Principles of Powered Equipment
- Health and Safety Legislation and Environmental Good Practice
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Protective Equipment:
- Hearing protection (complying with EN 352)
- Eye protection (polycarbonate visor complying with EN 166)
- Suitable protective gloves to the back of the hand
- Steel toe capped protective boots with good grip and ankle support (complying with EN 345-1)
- Non-snag outer clothing appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions
- High-visibility clothing may also be appropriate
