Aerial Pruning Training Course

COURSE CONTENT 

Introduction 
Risk Assessment and Emergency Planning
Understand relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice
Assess site specific site hazards 
Working at Height Assessment
Tree Condition Pruning Techniques 
Tools and Aerial Pruning
Understand relevant aspects of BS3998 2010
Understand work methods for all tree categories
Plan & agree safe work method with ground staff
Carry out pre climb tree inspection
Understand how to carry out crown thinning & reduction of a tree
Be able to carry out crown thinning & reduction of a tree
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED 

Protective Equipment: 

Chainsaw/climbing boots (HSE Recommended to BS EN 12492) 
Chainsaw gloves (optional) 
Chainsaw helmet, visor, ear protection and chin strap (HSE Recommended mountaineering style helmet complying with BS EN 12492)  
Chainsaw trousers – Type C all round leg protection  
Personal First Aid Kit (with whistle & knife with retractable blade)  
A waterproof coat and over-trousers (course will continue even in rain) 

Chainsaw & Climbing Equipment:  

Personal First Aid Kit (with whistle & knife with retractable blade)  
A waterproof coat and over-trousers (course will continue even in rain).  
Serviceable chainsaw (recommended 12 inch guide bar) 
Chainsaw toolkit including chain oil  
Fuel 
A top handled saw may be brought also if one is available providing it complies with current safety standards 
Your own climbing must be LOLER compliant , please bring LOLER Certificate with you to training and assessment 

Pre-Requisites:

Candidates 16 years and over

Candidates must have achieved 0039-20 Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting, 0039-21 Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Felling Small Trees up to 380mm, 0039-22 Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue and 0039-23
Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness (or equivalent versions).
