South East Landbased Training Courses provides vocational training on a bespoke basis with an emphasis on training within the work environment.

Flexible courses for rural, agricultural and landbased activities, including practical skills, health and safety, legislative, conservation and environmental skills.  

Training is provided from our sites throughout Kent, East and West Sussex.

Bespoke training packages are also available at your site or ours

Training Courses

Chainsaw Training Courses

Our Chainsaw Training Courses are designed to offer the highest levels of instruction and guidance to our trainees.. The chainsaw training courses are led by our team of fully qualified instructors who hold City & Guilds / Lantra Awards certifications.

Climbing and Aerial Training Courses

Our climbing and aerial training courses are led by a team of fully qualified instructors. You will learn using a Chainsaw from a harness and rope, aerial pruning and rigging. We also provide refresher courses.

Forest Machinery Training Courses

Our forest machinery training courses are aimed at those working in the forestry industry. Courses include learning to prepare, use and maintain forestry equipment and machinery. The course also covers risk assessments and clothing.

Tree Felling Training Courses

Our tree felling training courses are designed for novice and experienced chainsaw operators for felling trees in amenity or arboricultural activities. Safely and accurately, removing branches, crosscutting stems, stacking timber and taking down hung-up trees with hand tools.

Emergency First Aid Training Courses

Training and assessment is offered with the optional inclusion of a course to include additional subjects faced by first aiders who work in Forestry, Arboriculture or within the wider landbased industries.

Tree Inspection Training Courses

For experienced and qualified inspectors with an in depth knowledge of plant and arboricultural science. Suitable for people seeking work in commercial forestry, amenity and/or utility arboriculture for example arborists, tree surgeons and employees of highway agencies and country estates.

Livestock Training Courses

Our livestock training courses include the transportation of livestock, safe and responsible use of equipment and medicines and stockmanship and welfare of livestock.

Pest Control Training Courses

Our pest control training courses include the management and control methods for pests. The courses include rodents, bees and wasps and bugs.

Pesticide Training Courses

Our pesticide training courses includes the safe application of pesticides, principles of safe handling and the use of pesticide equipment and machinery.

Plant Machinery Training Courses

Our plant machinery courses include 360 excavators, forward tipping dumpers, elevated work platforms and off vehicle. Comply with legal requirements and safe practice.

Online Training Courses

E-learning offers a flexible, convenient and effective method of achieving new skills. Training takes place in the comfort of your own home and you can work at a speed that suits you.

Latest information from the Forest & Arboriculture Training Fund:

"We are pleased to announce that the Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund is now open for new applications.

Applicants can apply by visiting: www.forestryandarbtrainingfund.co.uk/

Applicants should note that training must be completed by 31st March 2025. Funding will not be awarded for training courses that have either been booked or completed prior to a grant award being made.

Funding for courses is limited and we would encourage those interested to apply early. Priority will be given to those individuals who either have not previously been awarded grant funding through the programme, or who have been awarded funding for less than 3 courses since February 2023. Individuals who have previously been awarded funding for 3 or more courses may still apply, but there is no guarantee that any further grant funding will be awarded."
